UNASUR is the name of an international organization by regional character, with a population ofalmost 370 millions. UNASUR Constitutive Treaty recalls the common history of South American nations, multi-ethnic, multi-lingual and multi-cultural. UNASUR, unlike economical and micro-regional organizations as MercoSur and Andean Community, is a return to the past: a past represented by the Libertadores’ ideas of a united Latin America. This paper describes ideological forerunners and institutional framework of UNASUR.
