China in Africa
From 2006, year of the first Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), China has managed in less than ten years to become the main trading partner of the African continent. Aim of this paper is to analyse the way China has succeed to break down the European and American interests and the impact of this new scenario for the African continent. In particular, taking into consideration the analysis made by Chris Alden in his book “China in Africa”, this paper tries to analyse the characteristics of Chinese engagement in the continent and if China can be classified as “Development partner”, “economic competitor” or “new colonizer” for Africa.
